ORCHESTRA OF THE HUNGARIAN POLICE (aka POLICE BIG BAND HUNGARY). On the occasion of the integration of the Border Guard and the Police on December 31, 2007, the Border Guards Orchestra ceased to function as an independent band. With the Border Guard Orchestra and the Fusion of the Standby Police Orchestra, a new band was formed, within which the big band traditions of both the Police and Border Guards survived. The new Police Big Band takes control of Major Béla Szalóky, a police officer. The band's image has changed dramatically, and their repertoire reflects this. Their show includes classical and modern big band tunes that have not been played by the Border Guard Orchestra in recent years. The eternal favorites, Sammy Nestico's brilliant and Gordon Goodwin's witty and brave compositions and arrangements, have some real surprises as well.
