Brussels Jazz Orchestra was founded in 1993 and enjoys the recognition and support of the Flemish government since 1999. In 2023, BJO celebrated its 30th anniversary. In April and May 2026, Brussels Jazz Orchestra will tour internationally with renowned American trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire. They join forces for a unique project inspired by Miles Davis. Brussels Jazz Orchestra (BJO) strives to achieve the highest level by composing original music, creating unique arrangements and playing inventively as well as passionately. BJO plays jazz with a dynamic orchestral sound rooted in jazz tradition, where each musician is also a brilliant soloist. In the past 30 years, BJO created unique projects that didn’t solely stick to standards, but incorporated other musical genres and art forms. The only professional large jazz ensemble in Belgium has a worldwide reputation, from Singapore and Abu Dhabi to New York and Johannesburg. In addition to BJO’s own productions, the orchestra has worked with well-known musicians all over the world, like Toots Thielemans, Joe Lovano, Maria Schneider, Dave Liebman, Philip Catherine and countless others. In February 2020, BJO shared the stage of Bozar (Brussels, B) with the world-famous Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, led by Wynton Marsalis, for a grand big band celebration. In June 2026, a new album will be released: 'Between a Smile and a Tear - A Toots Celebration', with Brussels Philharmonic, Kenny Werner, Grégoire Maret and Miho Hazama.

Die Morillon Big Band wurde 2002 gegründet. Ein vielseitiges Repertoire ist das Hauptanliegen der MBB! Sie besteht aus Amateuren, die aus Freude am Ensemble-Spiel zirka zweimal monatlich proben und mehrmals jährlich in der Umgebung von Bern auftreten. Die MBB ist eine Band für Gartenfeste, Geburtstage, Hausparties und was auch immer der Anlass bildet. Es wird mit Liebe zum Detail geprobt und mit viel Enthusiasmus aufgeführt! die Band kann ausserdem für wenig Geld gebucht werden... 2020 war ein schwieriges Jahr für uns. Wir konnten nur wenig proben und keine Auftritte machen. 2021 wird hoffentlich besser werden!! Ps oder nach einem weiteren Jahr: Es hat sich nicht wirklich verbessert. Die Pandemie erschwert immer wieder das Arbeiten. Jetzt kommt der nächste Versuch mit 2022! - und es war ein gutes jahr, wieder mit auftritten und frischem repertoire! die besetzung der band ist zurzeit optimal, einigen guten solisten und sogar mit basstrombone... so gehts mit viel spielfreude ins nächste jahr "das dreiundzwanzig". die Jahre 2024 und 25 waren wieder erfolgreich mit einigen Gigs und anspruchsvollem Repertoire. Wir kämpfen für die Vollständigkeit der Besetzung und suchen dringend 1st lead-tp und 2nd tp...

Das im Jahr 1998 im österreichischen Graz gegründete Jazzorchester katapultierte sich durch kluge Programmierung und Zusammenarbeit mit einigen der profiliertesten internationalen Jazzkünstler quasi vom Stand in die oberste Liga. Neben memorablen Festivalauftritten z.B. mit dem Grammy-gekürten amerikan-ischen Vokal Sextett Take 6, den New York Voices, Kurt Elling, Jon Hendricks oder Bob Mintzer brachte vor allem die Zusammenarbeit mit den Komponisten & Posaunisten Bob Brookmeyer und Ed Neumeister mit zwei Alben den endgültigen Nachweis, dass hier eine hochkarätig besetzte Band auf allerhöchstem Niveau agierte. 2003 übernahmen Saxofonist/Flötist Heinrich von Kalnein und Trompeter/Sänger Horst-Michael Schaffer die künstlerische Leitung mit dem erklärten Ziel, mit der JBBG einen neuen Weg zu gehen und einen bandeigenen Sound zu finden.

The Summertimes Big Band is Singapore's only all-professional and independent big band which rehearses and performs on a very regular schedule. Formed in 2009 by a bunch of long time musician-friends who have been colleagues at other music ensembles and performance stages, the dynamism and synergy of this big band is often always felt beyond its hard-swinging music - to places where only sincerity, friendships and camaraderie can bring. Passion of the bandsmen are best heard at their live performances where collective dedication raises their already professional levels of performance up a couple of notches. Eight years after its inception, the Summertimes Big Band has played for over five hundred performances, much to the delight to its ever-growing base of jazz enthusiast audience - including the local and regional lindy hop swing dance communities. It's first all-swing concert - "1938 - An Evening of Big Band Music and Dance" - was a sold-out success when the band enjoyed minutes of standing-ovations together with world-renowned lindy hop dancers from Sweden & USA - including the indomitable Dawn Hampton of the famous Hampton family of musicians. Most recently, the band has also been invited to play with Charlie Haden for Mosaic Music Festival 2011's opening evening at The Esplanade.

Tanglin Rose Big Band is made up of professional-level classical horn players, together with soloists in each horn section, and an all jazz rhythm section line-up. This band has essentially moved on to specializing in Top 40s of the '80s era and are inspired by the likes of Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind & Fire.
